Get well soon wishes

I know some of you have been wondering about the absence of Allan on the site over the last number of days. So, with his permission, I am “spilling the beans”. He is in hospital after a bit of a heart scare in the early hours of Friday morning.

I’ve just been speaking to his wife, Julie, and he is in grand form, handing out GC cards to the nurses and impatiently awaiting an angiogram – though bored stupid.

I know everyone will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery and also know you will all be thinking of him and his family.

Love and best wishes Allan, form all of us.

I know hospital can be boring Allan, but try and take the opportunity to have some rest – we need you back here, full of your wise advice, and showing us all how to do it. Bydd yn ofalus.

Just had a lovely chat on the phone with Allan’s wife, Julie. They had hoped that 3 stents were going to be enough, but have now decided that a bypass would be a much better job.
I have told Julie that we are all thinking of them and she asked me to thank everyone for all the cards and good wishes.

  32. Daffy Gardener says:

Hi Karen, Thanks for letting us know. Is Allan to stay in hospital whilst awaiting his surgery?

    • VegVamp says:

He has to go back to the local hospital for tests Paula, then back to Cardiff for the op. What utter flippin nonsense, πŸ™

      • gertie says:

It all went roughly the same sort of route for Dom Karen, and as you saw, he was in good form at Cardiff with me ….. so the sooner the better for Allan……good luck for a speedy op, and a speedy recovery :good:  :rose:
and thank you for keeping us apprised Karen xxx :rose:

    • VegVamp says:

YEA! There you are, great to see you on Allan. So disappointing for you I know, but you won’t know yourself after it is all done. You only have to remember Tony and Anne’s Dom at Cardiff to know it will be well worth it. Good luck my special garden guru, Andy and I are thinking of you. :rose:  K xx

  42. NorthernTeacher says:

Great to see you on here, Al :good: we’re routing for you

  43. Beanstew says:

Look to the future Al, and the knowledge as Liz says, that you will feel better after the op than you probably have for ages. You didn’t say much about how you were feeling before all this happened, but I’ll bet you weren’t feeling great. I’ve known a couple of people before and after the same procedure, and they really glad they had had it done.

  44. Allan says:

I was feeling marvellous Sheila.75th birthday.I had just had a meal at my mates hotel. Had the whole family there. Might have had a little bit too much food. And a little bit too much Grouse.Who knows.? Thanks for the card. Al

    • Beanstew says:

It was going to happen sometime Allan – and just as well it happened when you were with other people on dry land, and not out on a boat sea fishing. And you have the memory of that birthday steak to sustain you through days of hospital food…..Hope it isn’t too bad! but if it is, I expect Julie is carrying in lots of home made treats. How is she? She must have got an awful fright. πŸ˜₯

  45. flowerpotlynn says:

Good to here from you Allan πŸ™‚

    • VegVamp says:

That is exactly what I said to Julie, about keeping us informed. She laughed and told me she was under strict instructions from Al. :rose: It’s still very good of her and I told her how much we appreciated it.

    • gertie says:

Good morning Allan :bye: Dom, ever practical!, says he had a rope/ladder/twisted towel/rope device tied to the bottom of the bed which he could grip to help himself to sit up. He found that pulling on that helped him enormously, as he didn’t have to twist and turn his body. He hopes that this bit of ‘nurse lore’ is common throughout the hospitals and that it helps you too.
All the best, take it easy, and it will get better.
Hugs from us both, Dom and Anne :rose: :rose:

      • gibbon says:
